CSTA Announces Appointment of Interim Executive Director

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Seed Trade Association (CSTA) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Tyler McCann has recently accepted the role of Interim Executive Director. Tyler will start with the CSTA on a part-time basis in January 2020.

Tyler is a Senior Associate with T. Bjornson and Associates (B&A), an Ottawa based consulting firm that works exclusively in the agriculture and food space. He has a strong background in government relations, policy, strategy, international trade and association management. Tyler served as the Interim Executive Director for the Grain Growers of Canada and has consulted on strategy, policy, and international trade for clients across Canada in a variety of agriculture sectors. Before his work in consulting, Tyler worked for the federal government, including almost ten years working for the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. Tyler is a familiar face to the CSTA, having supported several projects, including as the author of the CSTA’s Market Facilitation Report.  Tyler lives in Bristol, Quebec, where he and his wife operate a beef farm.

In the role of Interim Executive Director, Tyler will support the Board of Directors, provide oversight of financial issues, supervise staff and contractors and act as the senior point of contact for the CSTA. He will also oversee ongoing projects, committees, advocacy and policy work to ensure momentum on key issues for CSTA members, including Seed Synergy, plant breeding innovation, value creation, and seed regulatory modernization.

“CSTA is pleased to welcome Tyler McCann as Interim Executive Director. By quickly filling the role, we are ensuring a smooth leadership transition for CSTA’s staff, board and members, and we look forward to continued progress on the issues that are important to our industry,” said Georges Chaussé, President, CSTA.
